Tiger Leaping Gorge

In the Yunnan province, this is the worlds deepest gorge, and sadly the lonely planet talks about the possibility of closing it up to build dams for electricity.
I hope it never happens because what a beautiful peaceful place it is! You can either get a driver to take you through, or hike yourself along the right side of the gorge, which has amazing cute guesthouses and hostels along the way! There is a main road, or a hiking trail further up that can be extremely dangerous in rainy weather (and also hard due to altitude).
I stuck with the road since there can't be too much traffic in these parts, and had a wonderful time!
Mid-complete right is Tina's guesthouse, which brings probably the nicest view in the gorge.

Kunming Chicken and rice

Right outside the Hump hostel, there is this little local joint that most tourists missed, and everything was around 1$ for a meal.
Where are you supposed to dump the eggshells? on the floor, so the waiter can pick it up!

My sweet discoveries

Banana pancake, can't go wrong!

Pasty dried fruit filled breads and almond cookies (no yellow food colouring!!)

Inside the fried breads

Scrumptious carrot cake

Red bean and custard filled waffle type shells

Glutinous rice ball with red bean paste filling
Sweet corn bread

I have no idea, but they sure look nice! (made of glutinous rice flour)

The best eggs I ever had: Duck eggs

After sweating bullets from climbing up a mountain to see the famous "moon hill", a woman stopped us at the bottom to offer us lunch at her house in the nearby village for a very reasonable price. She had clearly done this before since she had pictures to show us of previous happy customers.

I can't explain how delicious these duck eggs were.
Imagine the hearty flavour that comes from the yolk times ten, in scrambled eggs. Fried up with garlic and tomatoes. We ate that up in no time!
We also got eggplant, vegetables, a meat dish, and rice, which was all grown by the owner herself.
I would marry this woman!

Kunming street food

Fresh rice noodles (select your thickness) with pickled veggies, green onions, coriander, peanuts and chilli sauce. Amazing cold snack on a hot day!
And don't forget of course, MSG!

I heart Dumplings

In China, I can rephrase Forest Jump:
'Life is like a bunch of dumplings, you never know what your gonna get!'
You just know its going to taste good, and have some kind of mysterious protein inside! Mmmmmm
